This exhibition brings together the work of painter Nicola Dickson and ceramicist Malcolm Cooke. Each artist engages in a personal form of alchemy, transforming diverse materials through complex processes into objects and images that express their reflections on the natural world. While working in different mediums, both artists share an interest in pattern and the recurring presence of plant and animal forms, which they use to evoke a sense of place and belonging.

About the Artists

Nicola Dickson lives and works in Canberra and uses painting and drawing to explore how cultural and natural histories inform our sense of place. She has been a finalist in many art prizes and her paintings are held in public and private collections. Nicola is represented by Grainger Gallery, Fyshwick

Malcom Cooke has worked in ceramics for 55 years as a maker and designer and manager of various ceramic workshops. Bendigo Pottery 1970- 72. The Badgers Creek Pottery in Healesville Victoria 1974-79. Cuppacumbalong Studio at Cuppacumbalong Arts Centre. Currently at my studio The Art Shed since 1992. His work is in collections worldwide and has participated in many solo and group exhibitions in Australia and internationally.
