Join us in The Space for a glass of wine at an author’s talk with Chris Hammer and Peter Papathanasiou.
Having just returned home after a month-long tour with his latest work, The Valley, Chris has a boot full of great stories to share over a glass of wine. Joining him on the couch is local author Peter Papathanasiou who will facilitate a Q&A with Chris. Come along and ask questions or sit back and and hear tips, tricks and stories when acclaimed author Peter Papathanasiou interviews Chris Hammer at Tuggeranong Art Centre.
Chris is the 2024 ACT Book of the Year award winner for his crime thriller The Seven, which the judges described it as a thrilling narrative filled with suspense that immerses the reader in a gripping page turning intrigue. Chris will have signed copies of his new book for sale.
About the Authors
Chris Hammer is an award winning Australian crime fiction novelist, author of the internationally bestselling Martin Scarsden series: Scrublands, Silver and Trust. Before turning to fiction, Chris was a journalist for more than thirty years. He reported from more than 30 countries on six continents for SBS TV. In Canberra, roles included chief political correspondent for The Bulletin, senior writer for The Age and Online Political Editor for The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald. He has a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Charles Sturt University and a master’s degree in International Relations from the Australian National University. He lives in Canberra, Australia.
Peter Papathanasiou is an acclaimed, internationally published author. His first book, Little One (2019), was a memoir of his international adoption. A series of fictional crime novels featuring Detective Sergeant George Manolis followed, which began with The Stoning (2021). Peter is now working to adapt these books to the screen with Australian filmmakers. He has also published in mainstream media outlets such as The Guardian, The Sydney Morning Herald, and The New York Times. From the ANU, he has a Bachelor of Laws specialising in criminal law and a PhD in biomedical sciences, and a Master of Arts in creative writing from City St George’s, University of London.
