10 storytellers bring stories of their ancestors to the stage in a curated program presented by Canberra Slam and IDioM. Join MC and poet Andrew Cox in The Space, upstairs at Tuggeranong Arts Centre for an afternoon of cultural storytelling and community connection at Hot Pot Stories. Hear personal stories about the power of the people who shape our lives and enjoy a rich smorgasbord of short stories, shared in a spirit of openness, courtesy, and respect. This event is being held alongside the exhibition Anitu: old gods, beliefs, and superstitions by the artist IDioM. The exhibition delves into IDioM’s Filipino identity, culture, and community, transforming oral stories of the Philippines into tangible objects.
Want to have your story heard?
Anyone is welcome to submit stories about their history, ancestors, and culture to be shared during the event. This is an opportunity to share your authentic voice and express our individual connections with identity together as a community. The program calls for stories about culture, beliefs, and superstitions. These topics will resonate differently for all of us, and all stories are valuable, we want to celebrate yours! Selected stories will be shared by their writers in an open, exchange based format, guided by the MC. This is a chance to share and listen to stories in a spirit of openness, courtesy, and respect. The event is a safe space for diverse voices and narratives. Join us and share your story in a welcoming and supportive environment.
