Tuggeranong Arts Centre’s Make a Mini Musical school holiday program with Mr. Tim and Ms. Nat is giving kids the unique opportunity to co-create and perform an original musical in only 5 days. Running in the upcoming school holidays, participants devise the story, write the script and lyrics, co-write the music, choreograph stage movement, and make props and backdrops for a public performance on the final day.
Providing a platform for young people to express their concerns and find solutions, the musical’s theme comes from the children and is made in response to real-life challenges and as well as learning the various aspects involved in creating a musical, the children learn how to collaborate and work in teams. But the driving force behind the ongoing success of the program, is its capacity to give children a voice, something the program Directors Tim and Nat are passionate about.
This engaging, high-energy program for students aged 8-13 years, is running at Tuggeranong Arts Centre from Monday 13 January – Friday 17 January. Spaces are limited to 25 students. No experience is required – just an attitude to participate in the creation and development of the musical.
