About the choir
A welcoming community choir led by opera singer and conductor Tobias Cole. Open to all experience levels, the choir offers an uplifting space to explore vocal technique, harmony, rhythm, and expressive singing through rounds, vocal exercises, and a diverse choral repertoire. Members also develop the art of hearkening—active, intuitive listening—which encourages presence, improvisation, and a strong sense of shared connection.
With a focus on wellbeing, creativity, and community, the choir continues to grow through a collaborative partnership between ANU Community Music Centre and TAC, now bringing together more than 40 enthusiastic singers each term.
Terms and Conditions for participating in Sing with Toby
- A non-refundable admin fee of $30 must be paid each term on confirmation of enrolment. Some bursaries are available – applications should be made in writing to the CEO.
- Choir members must be aged 18 and over and officially registered and on the class roll. One trial class is permitted prior to registration, by prior communication with TAC staff.
- Choir members are expected to participate fully and willingly as directed by the choir director and in a manner that does not negatively impact other choir members.
- Choir members are expected to show respect to each other, the choir director, and any other staff or volunteers associated with the choir. This includes refraining from any discriminatory or abusive language or behaviour and treating others with kindness and consideration.
- Choir members are expected to prioritise safety at all times during rehearsals, performances, and other choir events, and to follow any safety guidelines or instructions provided by the choir director or other staff.
- TAC reserves the right to revoke participation in the choir should any member fail to adhere to these expectations.

Enrolling for Sing with Toby
- The choir is limited to 50 participants. If the choir is full you will be placed on a waiting list and contacted when a space is available.
- To enquire about joining please complete the enquiry form below
- TAC staff will process your enquiry and you will receive email confirmation of your enrolment
- Enrolment is managed through Class Manager.
- Your enrolment will roll over each month. If you want to withdraw, you will need to let TAC know in writing via info@tuggeranongarts.com

About Tobias Cole
In his search for meaning in this increasingly technocratic world Tobias Cole uses his unique understanding of music and its resonant powers to create joyful, exhilarating and ultimately transcendental experiences with groups of people of all ages. He sees every rehearsal and every performance, whether as a conductor, singer, actor or MC, as an opportunity to remind people of their humanity and inspire them to tap their enormous potential.
Tobias is choirmaster of CSO Chorus and conducts three youth choirs, Canberra Children’s Choir (Music for Canberra), Vocal Fry (Community Music Centre) and ANU Chamber Choir. For the last five years he has directed ANU Chamber Singers in the Australian of the Year Awards, recently performing with Dami Im.
