This Valentines, gather your gals and come laugh at another women’s disastrous dating life…

Tinderella is a one human comedy cabaret, created and performed by Alyce Fisher. The show explores real life tales of her very own Tinder escapades, investigates contemporary app dating culture and aims to empower everyone to take control of their own app dating experience. Strongly influenced by Disney characters, featuring a bespoke mockumentary film, an informative Ted Talk, a magic wand and audience interaction/participation. The Character of the Fairy Godmother acts as the narrator, guiding the audience through the twisting tales of our girl Tinderella, who is very much so focused on delivering her very informative TED Talk (or as we call it TIT Talk).Tinderella is a rollicking good time, super funny and has a whole lot of heart.

Suited for audiences 18+, running time around 1 hour, Tinderella is for comedy and cabaret lovers, anyone who has experienced the highs and the lows of the dating apps and those who are curious as to how it all works.

‘Tinderella is a witty and insightful dive into the sometimes dark and funny land of dating apps. Highly entertaining and very relatable this interactive one-woman show will have you laughing (and then crying) at the sad and sorry state of dating today.’ Michelle Fracaro The Liminal Collective

Show history

During One night, back in 2018, at a community rehearsal for a staged reading for someone else’s show, Alyce was regaling the cast with tales of my creative Tinder escapades, she had everyone in fits of laughter as she shared stories of the many unique uses of Tinder she had achieved. It was on this night that she was anointed the title of ‘Tinderella’ by Albury based drag artist Yawana Fork. From here the idea of creating a one human show, exploring her innovative uses of dating apps was born.

In 2019, after drafting up a concept for ‘Tinderella & the eight unique uses of Tinder’, it was pitched to The Cube Wodonga, who committed to supporting the development of the work and she was on her way to creating her first ever one human show for their 2020 Season. Then she got pregnant (not a unique use of Tinder but a unique use of Grindr, which is a whole other show) was fully intending to perform the show 7+ months pregnant, then COVID happened, and the 2020 dates got cancelled, the 2021 dates got cancelled and the show was finally realised in April 2022.

About the Artist

A country girl at heart who grew up a Pony-club-prize-winner, cow-pat-frisbee-slinger, Alyce Fisher is known for getting herself into some interesting situations. A graduate of the Swinburne TAFE Theatre Arts Diploma 2007, who went onto start her own company Theatre On Toast, touring the regions performing theatre & education originals and being a fairy/clown/magician at far too many kids’ parties. Quick-witted and reliably rambunctious, Alyce’s, personal creative focus is on sharing stories and making the people laugh, through the development of solo performance work, stand-up comedy, BINGO calling and MC duties. Presently based in Albury-Wodonga, she premiered her first solo work in 2022 ‘Tinderella & the eight unique uses of Tinder’ at The Cube Wodonga and created the character of ‘Aurora’ for Rachel McNamara’s epic immersive experience ‘A Land of Snow & Ice’ in 2022/23.
