Experience Plein Air Painting with painter John Hart at two Woden locations over two weekends! Take the first step or renew your journey on the creative path with John’s kind and expert tutelage. Beginners and those wanting a refresher are welcome. Enjoy the spring weather and follow John through the heart of Woden to visually explore its architectural, landscape and public art icons.

Investigate some out of Woden’s out of the way places, including cafes, that will provide refreshments for purchase and shelter in case of wet weather.

These workshops will provide technical training as well as providing an opportunity for locals to meet in a relaxed, informal creative atmosphere. Participants will be provided with a kit containing watercolour paint, watercolour pencils and an A5 sized watercolour paper pad. Participants will also receive a kit containing water colour pencils, paints and aa A5 pad of watercolour paper for ongoing exploration beyond the time constraints of the workshop.

About the Artist

John Hart is an artist living and working in Canberra, Australia. After graduating from the Printmedia and Drawing workshop at the ANU School of Art in 2010, John spent many years as the Press Studio Manager at Megalo Print Studio, establishing himself as a highly skilled printmaker working in etching, screenprinting and lithography – printing for high profile artists and maintaining his own practice.

Since 2018 John has focused on his painting practice, taking commissions and developing new work while continuing to teach all forms of printmaking, drawing, watercolour, and oil painting. He currently works at the ANU School of Art as the Technical Officer in the Textiles Workshop and practices from ANCA Studios.
