Call out to Canberra Textile Artists

Interested in showing or offering wearable scarves for sale in TAC’s end of year exhibition? Just in time for Christmas, It’s a Wrap will be a survey of wearable scarves and wraps by local and regional artists. Whether you stitch, patch, print, embroider, weave, knit, crochet, felt, dye, assemble or employ other techniques to alter, embellish or make art or designs in textiles, you are warmly invited to enter. Works should be wearable and if for sale, will be offered to our audiences in the lead up to Christmas.

Project dates:

1 July: Submissions open
11 October: Submissions close, deadline for delivering work
18 October: Official Exhibition Opening 6pm
14 December: Closing event

Entry conditions:

  • Artists may enter up to 3 works
  • Works should not exceed 650 x 2000mm
  • An entry fee of $20 applies to each item
  • Artworks must be physically received at TAC by 4pm on Friday 11 October
  • Display of works must be for the duration of the exhibition and inline with the display conditions below.
  • An additional fee of $20 will apply for postage and handling, should you require postal return of your work.

Please check your entry before submission to ensure all details are correct. Changes may not be accepted after the closing date.

Display of work:

  • Preferably, works will be installed vertically (longwise) in the Foyer Gallery using window dressing pins to allow movement. Should an alternative display be required, due to the weight or nature of the work, please contact TAC Exhibitions and Public Programs Manager to discuss prior to close of entries.
  • Works must be appropriately prepared for installation. Instructions detailing preferred orientation, attachment locations or any special instructions must be provided with the work.
  • Installation will not be altered after the opening. Works should not exceed 650 x 2000mm. For oversized pieces, discuss with the TAC Exhibitions and Public Programs Manager.
  • TAC reserves the right to make curatorial decisions and to exclude work, for any reason, if necessary.
    Works that are offensive or not in keeping with TAC values will not be displayed.

Prizes: All entries are eligible for a judging in the selected prize and the TAC Staff prize.

Sales: Entries may be offered for sale. TAC retains a sales commission of 40% on all items sold. If your work is not for sale, please indicate NFS on the entry form. Are you registered for GST? If yes, include 10% GST in the sale price.

Return of Works:

Join us at TAC at 1pm on Wednesday 11 December to collect unsold works and enjoy a cuppa and making get together. Enjoy light refreshments and meet other artists on the last day of the show. Unsold works should be taken home at the end of the event. Sign out your work at TAC reception.

Uncollected work will be available for collection during business hours on Thursday 12, Friday 13, or Saturday 14 December. Office hours are 10am – 5pm Monday to Friday and 10am – 4pm Saturdays.

TAC will reopen after the holiday shutdown on Tuesday 14 January 2025. If a postage and handling fee is selected, works will be returned by post.
