Emma Hodges is an artist who lives and works on the lands of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people. Their art practice explores themes of multicultural identity, community building and storytelling. Emma graduated from the Australian National University School of Art and Design in 2019 with first class honors in painting. Since then, Emma has been a recipient of the Brett Whitely Travelling Scholarship, performed at the Biennale of Sydney and gave a keynote speech at the Art Gallery of New South Wales for Accessible Arts as part of NSW Women’s week. As well as working in the Messengers program Emma is also currently a Lead Educator at The National Gallery of Australia.
